SpeedZone Launches New Fireball Rollercoaster
Six Story Coaster Turns Riders Upside Down Six Times
Dallas, TX – SpeedZone is famous for high speed thrills and now introduces its biggest thrill ride ever with the new Fireball rollercoaster, set to open to the public on July 12.
The new Fireball is different than most as it is a single “super loop” that towers six stories high. Daring riders scream with delight as they go round and round on the inside of the giant loop and speed over the top upside down while experiencing “hang time” to catch a glimpse of the people far below. The new coaster shuttles back and forth on the inside of the super loop, gaining height and speed with each pass until it reaches the peak. Then the lucky riders hurtle over the top to enjoy the adrenaline rush of six head-over-heel inversions, forwards and backwards, during six full revolutions around the giant ringed track.
At night, the new Fireball shines like a six story beacon of light as the computer controlled Turbolights shower the midway with dazzling colors. The flame painted ride can accommodate 20 riders per cycle with a capacity of over 500 guests per hour.
“The Fireball gives teenagers and thrill-seekers of all ages something new, fun, big and fast to experience”, said Gene Muncy, General Manager, “It takes the SpeedZone experience to a new level of thrills and our guests will love it.”
The Fire Ball is manufactured by Larson International and is the culmination of twenty-five years experience with over 95 SuperLoops around the world. The new Fire Ball features the latest safety devices plus redesigned open trains with an over-the-shoulder restraint system to allow for open seating with no overhead structures or cages, so the rider's view is completely unobstructed.
SpeedZone features high speed racing tracks, state-of-the-art Electric Alley game room with the latest video games, mini golf and full restaurant service at the SpeedZone Café and Bar. Wild Waters Family Waterpark Unveils New $1 Million
‘Alligator Ambush’ Flume Ride
SILVER SPRINGS, Fla - The new 40-foot-tall, $1 million “Alligator Ambush” flume ride was unveiled at Wild Waters when the family waterpark opened for the 2008 season.
A high energy, tube ride located just inside Wild Waters’ main entrance, “Alligator Ambush” sends guests in two-person tubes down a 45-foot-long enclosed tunnel at close to 30 mph before they enter a giant 35-foot bowl where they will spin along the mist-shrouded sides and circle a giant water-spraying alligator. At the end, the riders slide down to the bottom of the bowl and drop into a run-out chute.
“This is the largest investment at Wild Waters in 10 years,” said Terry Turner, general manager for Silver Springs and Wild Waters. “This shows our commitment to improving the waterpark and making it THE place for families in 2008.”
Wild Waters is next to Silver Springs attraction and the nine acre waterpark also offers five other slides and speed flumes, a 450,000-gallon Wave Pool, two children’s play areas, championship volleyball, specialty shops, showers, lockers and food outlets.

Castle Parks Opens New High Flying Ride
New DRAGONFLYERS Takes to the Skies
Riverside, CA – Castle Park has launched an exciting new ride at the park that will allow riders to feel what it’s like to soar through the sky on a “flying dragon”.
“The new DragonFlyers ride gives guests of all ages the thrill of flight. Everyone will love it because they can control their own flight and make it as daring and thrilling… or as soaring and graceful as they want,” said General Manager Rolf Paegert. “It has quickly become one of the favorite rides in the park. And because each flight is different, our guests want to ride it again and again.”
The new DragonFlyers is based on a classic amusement ride and is manufactured by Larson Manufacturing, Inc. With a medieval theme and dramatic fire-breathing dragon graphics, it consists of eight suspended ride carriages each holding two people. As the DragonFlyers begin rotating, centrifugal force swings the cable-suspended carriages outward and upward to a diameter of 85 feet. The DragonFlyers soar through the sky in a dizzying arc up to 35 miles per hour. In the front of each ride carriage is a large vertical wing that riders can move from side to side to control the movement of the vehicle. As the wing is moved, the ride carriage swings inward or outward while still traveling around the central axis. As the riders flying skills develop, the wing movements can be timed at the apex of the arc to allow dramatic turns with high speed dives up and down throughout the ride. Older guests can often create their flight pattern that is extremely intense filled with thrilling swoops and fast, arcing turns while younger children or parents may prefer to fly their ride in a much calmer pattern with less movement up and down.

This is Castle Parks 28th ride, joining well known favorites such as the Fireball and Merlin’s Revenge rollercoasters, The Dragons’ Tower, The Log Ride, Sea Dragon and The King’s Crown. Castle Park also includes a 3,000sf video arcade and one of the regions best and largest miniature golf courses. The Castle Park Ride Park is open daily beginning June 6th. The unlimited ride wristband includes unlimited use of 27 rides and attractions excluding arcade, skill games and mini golf.
